Promise Rings for Men

My North My South My East My West — Promise Rings for Men

W.H. Auden understood that when love arrives — really arrives — everything else becomes background noise.

Stop all the clocks. Cut off the telephone. Let the moment be exactly what it is.

The Stop All The Clocks promise ring is for that moment. And for every ordinary moment that follows it — because a promise made in love does not end with the grand gesture. It continues. Quietly. Daily. On the inside of a ring worn every single day for the rest of a life.

Here is what makes this ring unlike anything else.

The word love is inscribed across the flat band — but not in a line, not in the conventional way. Each letter is placed at a 90 degree increment, just like the cardinal points of a compass. N. E. S. W. L. O. V. E. Turned, rotated, oriented — as if love itself is the fixed point around which everything else finds its direction.

Because it is.

And at the centre of it all — flush set into the band where the ‘o’ sits — a single diamond. Clean. Brilliant. Catching light from within the word itself. Not announced. Not elevated. Simply there, quiet and perfect, doing what diamonds do best.

This is a promise ring for men and women who navigate by love. Who use it as their true north. Who understand that wherever they are in the world, whatever direction they face, love is the point they always return to.

Shown in white gold — cool, precise, and completely suited to the quiet intelligence of this design.

Handcrafted to order in the Robert Young Sydney studio. Free shipping Australia-wide and worldwide. Free ring resizing included.

L. O. V. E. Set like a compass. True north. Always.

Promise Rings for Men

Robert drew from the poet W.H. Auden for this male wedding ring: “You are my north, my south, my east, my west.”

W.H. Auden  Stop all the clocks

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Love is subtle, not always for public display.
